Whaleback Environmental Film Festival

The Red Eft Project has a big mission in the Whaleback Environmental Film & Art Festival.

Our vision is a festival that features screenings of entertaining and relevent environmentally themed films of all genres, plus opportunities to meet the filmmakers that create them.

Each spring, the festival runs concurrently with a number of sustainability events during the month of May.

In doing so, it joins a range of community activities focused on sustainability including an art exhibit and clothing swap at the Portsmouth Library, and the Portsmouth High School Eco-Club's Race for the SOL 5K.

Audience engagement events are woven throughout the festival. Screenings include fimmaker Q&A sharing motivations, successes and opportunities moving towards sustainability. Films are often paired with local counterparts - citizens and organizations - who offer options for action around the film's message, and the tools to take that action.

There are many opportunities to engage with Whaleback. Contact the festival office for information on partnering with the festival and to participate in May's sustainability events.

As the festival grows, we hope to offer many ways for you to add your voice to Whaleback.
